The Project

Father Russell Stagg contacted us to replace the existing driveway at his property in Beckenham. The old surface had become worn and uneven over time, affecting both the appearance and practicality of the entrance. He wanted a smart, durable driveway that would provide a clean and welcoming finish while remaining easy to maintain.

Our Recommendation

After carrying out a full site assessment, we recommended installing a new block paved driveway. Block paving is a popular and reliable choice due to its durability, attractive appearance, and long lifespan. It also offers flexibility in design, creating a neat and professional finish that complements a wide range of property styles.

To ensure the driveway would remain stable and hard-wearing for years to come, we advised a full excavation of the existing surface followed by the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, compacted thoroughly to create a strong foundation.

The Installation

The project began with the removal of the old driveway surface and preparation of the ground. A solid Type 1 MOT sub-base was then supplied, laid, and machine-compacted to provide a stable base for the new paving.

Once the groundwork was complete, a sharp sand bedding layer was spread and levelled carefully. The block paving was then laid with precision, ensuring straight lines and an even finish throughout the driveway area. Kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints before the surface was compacted to lock the blocks securely into place.

Finally, the site was fully cleaned and tidied, leaving the property ready for immediate use.

The Result

In just one day, Father Russell Stagg’s property in Beckenham was transformed with a brand-new block paved driveway. The finished surface provides a strong, practical, and low-maintenance solution while greatly improving the appearance of the property’s entrance.
