The Project

Mr and Mrs Sampson contacted us to transform the front of their property in Wallington. Their existing driveway had become uneven and outdated, and they wanted a surface that would not only look smart but also be durable and easy to maintain. Alongside the new driveway, they were keen to have a new wall built to define the boundary and enhance the overall appearance of their home.

Our Recommendation

After visiting the property and discussing their requirements in detail, we recommended installing a resin bound driveway complete with a granite border and a new brick wall. The resin bound surface would offer a sleek, modern finish that is both hard-wearing and fully permeable, allowing water to drain through easily and helping to prevent standing water.

To create a crisp, defined edge, we suggested using granite cobbles as a border. The contrast between the natural granite tones and the resin bound surface would deliver a striking visual effect, while ensuring the edges remained stable and well-protected.

The addition of a new brick wall would provide structure and character, complementing the style of the property and adding a touch of elegance to the completed driveway. As always, we advised a solid MOT Type 1 hardcore sub-base to ensure long-lasting strength and stability beneath the new surface.

The Installation

The project began with the full excavation of the existing driveway, removing all debris and preparing the ground for the new installation. We then supplied and laid a Type 1 hardcore base, which was machine-compacted in layers to create a strong and stable foundation.

Once the base was complete, our team set out the granite border, ensuring every stone was positioned with precision to achieve a clean and professional edge. We then installed an open-texture base layer to maintain permeability in line with SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) regulations.

The UV-stable resin bound gravel mixture was then carefully blended and laid evenly across the prepared area, producing a seamless, smooth finish. This high-quality resin system resists fading, cracking, and discolouration, ensuring it retains its appearance for years to come.

In parallel, we constructed the new brick wall, built using durable facing bricks to complement the property’s existing features. The wall provided not only a defined boundary but also a polished finishing touch to the overall design.

Once all works were completed, the area was cleaned, tidied, and inspected to ensure the highest standard of finish.

The Result

In just four days, the front of Mr and Mrs Sampson’s home in Wallington was completely revitalised. The resin bound driveway now provides a durable, low-maintenance surface that perfectly complements the property, while the granite border and new brick wall add definition and style.

The finished project combines practicality with elegance, offering improved functionality, excellent drainage, and enhanced kerb appeal. Mr and Mrs Sampson were very happy with the transformation, which has given their home a smart, welcoming entrance that will remain beautiful for years to come.
