The Project

Mr Fry contacted us to replace his existing driveway at his home in Orpington. The old surface had begun to deteriorate, with cracks and uneven patches making it both unsightly and difficult to maintain. He wanted a clean, modern finish that would improve the overall look of his property while providing a durable, low-maintenance surface for everyday use.

Our Recommendation

After assessing the site, we recommended a resin bound driveway as the perfect solution. Resin bound surfaces are smooth, hard-wearing, and fully permeable, meaning water drains naturally through the surface to reduce puddling and improve safety.

To achieve a polished, long-lasting result, we proposed the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, machine-compacted for strength and stability. This would form a solid foundation for the resin system, ensuring it remained structurally sound over time.

We also advised laying an open-texture base layer before applying the UV-stable resin bound mixture. This combination provides excellent durability, a seamless appearance, and resistance to fading or discolouration from sunlight exposure.

The Installation

Our team began by excavating the old driveway and removing all waste materials to prepare the site. We then supplied and installed the Type 1 MOT hardcore, carefully levelled and compacted in layers to form a strong, even base.

Next, an open-texture asphalt layer was laid to promote permeability and create the ideal surface for bonding the resin. Once this was in place, we mixed and applied the UV-stable resin bound gravel, spreading it evenly across the driveway and smoothing it to a flawless finish.

Each section was levelled with precision to ensure perfect consistency across the entire area. After the resin had cured, the site was cleaned and tidied, ready for immediate use.

The Result

In just four days, the transformation of Mr Fry’s property in Orpington was completed. The new resin-bound driveway has given the home a sleek, contemporary entrance that combines practicality with style.

The surface is smooth, fully permeable, and resistant to cracks, weeds, and staining, making it a long-term, low-maintenance investment. Mr Fry was thrilled with the finished result, which not only enhances the look of his property but also provides a strong, reliable surface that will last for many years to come.
