The Project

Mr and Mrs West contacted us to update the driveway at their property in Bexley. Their old surface was beginning to show its age, with cracks and uneven areas making it less appealing and harder to maintain. They wanted a fresh, modern finish that would stand the test of time, while also giving their home a welcoming and stylish entrance.

Our Recommendation

Following a detailed survey of the site, we recommended a red tarmac driveway edged with granite cobbles. Red tarmac is a durable, low-maintenance material that provides a bold, clean look and is well-suited to everyday use. Its smooth surface ensures easy access for vehicles and pedestrians, while the rich colour offers excellent kerb appeal.

To enhance the overall finish, we suggested framing the driveway with granite cobbles. As with all our installations, we recommended a complete excavation of the existing surface, followed by the installation of a robust MOT Type 1 sub-base. This would guarantee stability, proper drainage, and a solid foundation for the new driveway.

The Installation

Our team began by excavating the existing surface and disposing of all waste materials responsibly. We then laid and compacted layers of MOT Type 1 hardcore to establish a strong base, carefully checking levels to ensure effective drainage.

Once the groundwork was complete, the red tarmac was laid evenly and compacted to form a smooth, durable surface. Great care was taken to achieve a flawless finish across the entire driveway.

The final stage involved setting the granite cobble edging. Each cobble was laid with precision, creating a neat frame that highlighted the vibrant red tarmac. The combination of textures and colours gave the driveway a high-quality, distinctive look.
