The Project
Mrs and Mr O’Neil contacted us to carry out improvements to the rear of their property in Eltham. Their existing driveway and garden space had become tired and uneven, leaving the area looking neglected and difficult to maintain. They were keen to create a practical driveway that would stand up to daily use, while also reshaping the outdoor space with new walls and a fresh lawn to provide a clean, welcoming finish.
Our Recommendation
After a thorough site inspection, we recommended installing a new rear driveway with robust materials to ensure durability and ease of upkeep. To complement this, we suggested constructing new brick walls to define the boundaries, improve security, and add structure to the outdoor area.
Finally, to complete the transformation, we advised laying a new turfed lawn. This would bring natural greenery back into the garden, softening the hard landscaping elements and creating a balance between functionality and looks.
As with all our projects, we recommended full excavation, the installation of a strong MOT Type 1 sub-base, and careful levelling to ensure stability and effective drainage throughout the new surfaces.
The Installation
The project began with the removal of the old surfaces and waste materials, clearing the space for the new works. Once excavated, our team prepared and compacted a high-quality sub-base for the driveway to guarantee strength and longevity. The new driveway surface was then installed with care and precision, ensuring a smooth, durable finish ready for regular use.
Next, we constructed the brick walls to frame and define the area. Using quality facing bricks, we built the walls with straight, solid lines that not only improved security but also gave the outdoor space a smart and structured look.
The final stage of the project involved preparing the ground and laying fresh turf. This new lawn brought colour and life back into the garden, providing a soft contrast to the new driveway and walls.
The Result
In just five days, the rear of Mrs and Mr O’Neil’s property in Eltham was completely transformed. The new driveway provides a strong and practical surface, the brick walls add definition and style, and the turfed lawn introduces a fresh, natural feel to the outdoor space.
The combination of these elements has created a rear garden that is both functional and attractive, giving the property a renewed sense of order and charm.
