The Project

Mr and Mrs Badham contacted us to transform the front of their property in Selsdon. Their existing driveway and garden area had become worn and lacked visual appeal, making the entrance to their home feel tired and uninviting. They were looking for a complete refresh that would combine a modern driveway with a softer, more natural element to improve the overall look of the space.

Our Recommendation

After a full site survey, we recommended installing a resin bound driveway alongside a new turfed lawn. Resin bound surfacing provides a smooth, contemporary finish that is both durable and permeable, allowing water to drain naturally and reducing the risk of standing water.

To complement the driveway, we suggested laying a fresh lawn to introduce greenery and balance the hard landscaping. This combination would create a clean, stylish entrance while maintaining a natural feel that enhances the overall appearance of the property.

As with all our projects, we advised a full excavation of the existing surface and the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, compacted to ensure long-term stability and performance.

The Installation

The project began with the removal of the existing driveway and preparation of the ground. A Type 1 MOT sub-base was then laid and machine-compacted to form a strong and level foundation.

Next, an open-texture base layer was installed to support the permeability of the surface. The resin bound driveway was then applied using a UV-stable resin and aggregate mix, carefully hand-trowelled to achieve a smooth, seamless finish.

Alongside the driveway works, we prepared the surrounding ground and laid the new turf, ensuring it was level, well-watered, and ready to establish quickly. The combination of the fresh lawn and resin surface created a balanced and attractive outdoor space.

The site was then fully cleaned and inspected, leaving the property neat and ready for use.
