Client: Mr & Mrs Evans
Site: Bromley
Timescale: 3 Days
Service Provided: New Block-Paved Driveway

The Project

Mr and Mrs Evans approached us in Bromley seeking to replace their ageing, uneven tarmac driveway with a more attractive, durable surface. The existing forecourt had become patchy and prone to pooling water, making vehicle access awkward and detracting from the overall appearance of the property. They wanted a solution that would both enhance kerb appeal and provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance finish.

Our Recommendation

After surveying the site and discussing their preferences, we proposed a permeable block-paved driveway in a herringbone pattern, using a mix of buff and red concrete blocks. The chosen colour combination would complement the brickwork of their home, while the permeable design would help to manage surface water runoff. We suggested a three-day programme to ensure each phase—from excavation through to jointing—could be carried out with precision and with the minimum of disruption.

The Installation

We commenced by lifting the existing tarmac and excavating to the required depth, before laying and compacting a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base to provide a robust foundation. Concrete edge restraints were then positioned to contain the paving and maintain the driveway’s shape. Finally, kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints and the surface lightly compacted to lock the pavers firmly in place and ensure a smooth, even finish.

The Result

In just three days, Mr and Mrs Evans’ property gained a great new driveway that combines functionality with style. The block paving delivers exceptional durability and minimal maintenance, while the permeable surface enhances drainage and reduces standing water. The Evans’ were thrilled with the fast, professional installation and the flawless finish achieved by our team.
