The Project

Mr and Mrs Adams contacted us to upgrade the front of their property in Sydenham. Their existing driveway had become worn and uneven over time, and the fencing around the boundary was no longer providing the level of privacy or appearance they wanted. They were looking for a complete transformation that would improve both the practicality and kerb appeal of their home.

Our Recommendation

After carrying out a detailed site survey, we recommended installing a new block paved driveway along with new fencing to clearly define the boundary. Block paving is a durable and versatile option, offering a clean and structured finish that can withstand daily use while remaining easy to maintain.

To ensure long-term performance, we specified a full excavation of the existing surface followed by the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, compacted in layers to create a strong and stable foundation. The addition of new fencing would enhance privacy, improve security, and complete the overall look of the frontage.

The Installation

The project began with the removal of the old driveway and fencing, clearing the area ready for preparation. A solid Type 1 MOT sub-base was then installed and machine-compacted to provide a reliable foundation.

Once the base was complete, a sharp sand bedding layer was laid and levelled with precision. The block paving was then carefully installed in the chosen pattern, ensuring a neat, uniform finish throughout. Kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints and the surface was compacted to lock everything securely into place.

Alongside the driveway works, we installed the new fencing, ensuring it was straight, secure, and aligned to create a clean and well-defined boundary. The site was then fully cleaned and left tidy upon completion.

The Result

In just three days, the front of Mr and Mrs Adams’ property in Sydenham was completely transformed. The new block paved driveway provides a strong, attractive and low-maintenance surface, while the new fencing enhances privacy and gives the property a neat, well-finished appearance.
