The Project

Mr and Mrs Simpson contacted us to improve the entrance to their property in Bromley. Their existing driveway surface had become worn and untidy over time, and the fencing surrounding the area was beginning to deteriorate. They wanted a practical driveway that would look attractive and complement the character of their home, while also installing new fencing to improve privacy and boundary definition.

Our Recommendation

After assessing the property, we recommended installing a driveway using Tegula block paving, along with new fencing around the boundary. Tegula paving is well known for its traditional appearance and slightly aged finish, making it an excellent choice for properties that benefit from a classic, characterful look.

To ensure the driveway would remain strong and durable, we advised a full excavation of the existing surface and the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, machine-compacted to provide a stable foundation. The addition of new fencing would enhance security and privacy while completing the overall appearance of the outdoor space.

The Installation

The project began with the removal of the existing driveway surface and the preparation of the ground. A Type 1 MOT sub-base was then installed and compacted in layers to create a strong base for the paving.

Once the groundwork was complete, a sharp sand bedding layer was prepared and levelled. The Tegula paving blocks were then carefully laid in the chosen pattern, ensuring a neat and uniform finish across the entire driveway. Kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints to lock the blocks firmly in place.

Alongside the driveway works, we installed the new fencing, ensuring it was securely fitted and properly aligned to create a clean and well-defined boundary. The area was then fully cleaned and tidied before completion.

The Result

In just two days, the front of Mr and Mrs Simpson’s property in Bromley was completely refreshed. The Tegula block paved driveway provides a durable and attractive surface that enhances the character of the home, while the new fencing improves privacy and gives the property a more defined and secure boundary.
