The Project

Mr & Mrs Brown contacted us regarding their driveway in West Wickham, which had become dated and uneven. The area was no longer practical for everyday use and lacked the appeal they wanted for the front of their home.

They were looking for a smart, durable, and low-maintenance solution that would boost the property’s kerb appeal and provide a reliable surface for vehicle access and parking.

Our Recommendation

After carrying out a site visit, we recommended a complete driveway installation using Argent paving slabs—a premium choice that combines modern style with excellent durability. To ensure the new driveway would stand the test of time, we advised a full excavation of the existing ground and the construction of a new base layer.

This included removing the old turf and hardcore, installing a Type 2 sub-base, and compacting a solid layer of MOT Type 1 hardcore—creating a strong and stable foundation for the paving slabs.

The Installation

The project took two working days to complete. On day one, we carried out a thorough dig-out of the driveway area, clearing away the old materials. We then laid and compacted a Type 2 sub-base, followed by a robust layer of MOT Type 1 hardcore to ensure optimal load-bearing support and drainage.

On day two, the Argent paving slabs were carefully laid in place, ensuring a precise, level finish with even spacing. Once set, we completed the surface with jointing to create a clean, polished look.

The Result

The newly installed driveway has completely transformed the front of the property. The Argent slabs offer a sleek, contemporary appearance while providing a safe and durable surface for vehicles.
