The Project

The Shaviram Group appointed Crown Paving to carry out a block paving installation at Clockhouse Station on Beckenham High Street. The project required a durable, hard-wearing surface capable of withstanding high levels of pedestrian traffic while enhancing the overall appearance of this busy public location.

As this was a commercial project in a well-used area, it was essential that the work was completed efficiently, safely and to a consistently high standard. Careful planning and organisation were required to minimise disruption whilst maintaining a safe environment for pedestrians and nearby businesses throughout the five-day programme.

Our Recommendation

Following a full site assessment, we recommended a professionally installed block paving system designed to provide long-term durability and an attractive finish. Block paving was the ideal choice due to its strength, ease of maintenance and ability to cope with the demands of a busy public environment.

We also recommended a complete reconstruction of the paving foundation, ensuring a robust sub-base was installed before laying the new blocks. This approach would provide a stable surface capable of resisting movement over time while delivering a neat, uniform appearance that complemented the surrounding streetscape.

The Installation

Work commenced with the careful preparation of the site, including the removal of the existing surface where required and excavation to the correct depth. Once the area had been prepared, our team installed a new compacted sub-base to create a strong foundation for the block paving.

Each block was laid with precision to achieve accurate alignment, consistent joint spacing and a professional finish throughout the project. Particular attention was paid to maintaining the correct levels and ensuring effective drainage across the paved area. Throughout the installation, our team worked efficiently to keep disruption to a minimum while maintaining a safe working environment for members of the public.

The project was completed within the agreed five-day timescale, with the site left clean, tidy and ready for immediate use.

The Result

The completed block paving installation has significantly enhanced the appearance and functionality of the area at Clockhouse Station, Beckenham High Street. The new surface provides a durable, attractive and low-maintenance finish that is well suited to the demands of a busy commercial environment.

The Shaviram Group were delighted with the quality of the workmanship, the professionalism of our team and the efficient delivery of the project. Completing the installation on schedule ensured minimal disruption while providing a long-lasting paving solution that will continue to perform for many years to come.
