The Project

Mr and Mrs Bertagna approached us to completely transform the exterior of their property in Brasted. They wanted to enhance both the front and rear areas with a high-quality finish that would complement the style of their home. Their goal was to create a modern, low-maintenance space with a seamless blend of materials, including resin bound surfaces, decorative paving, and new structural features such as walls and steps.

Our Recommendation

Following a full consultation and site survey, we recommended a resin bound driveway and patio for their durability, smooth finish, and excellent drainage properties. Resin bound surfacing provides a contemporary appearance and is resistant to cracking, weeds, and fading — making it perfect for both functional and decorative areas.

To define and elevate the design, we suggested incorporating Indian sandstone setts as borders and edging, offering a natural contrast that adds warmth and character. We also planned the construction of new brick walls and steps to improve structure and accessibility, as well as a section of tarmac to provide a hard-wearing surface in key access areas.

This combination of materials would deliver an elegant, practical, and cohesive result — perfectly suited to the property’s setting.

The Installation

Over a 10-day period, our team carried out a complete transformation. The project began with excavation and preparation of the groundwork, followed by the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, compacted to create a stable foundation.

We then constructed the new walls and steps, using high-quality materials and clean, precise brickwork to ensure a strong and attractive finish. Once these were complete, we laid the resin bound driveway and patio, ensuring a seamless, even surface throughout. The Indian sandstone setts were then installed carefully to frame the resin areas and add definition to the overall design.

A tarmac section was also completed to improve accessibility and provide a durable, long-lasting surface where required. Each element was finished to the highest standard, with careful attention to detail and full site cleanup upon completion.

The Result

The transformation of Mr and Mrs Bertagna’s property in Brasted was outstanding. The combination of resin bound surfaces, Indian sandstone setts, and new brickwork created a stunning, cohesive look that is both practical and visually striking.
