The Project

Mr and Mrs Jenkins contacted us to upgrade the front of their property in Croydon. Their old driveway surface had become uneven and worn over time, giving the entrance a tired appearance. They were looking for a driveway solution that would be both visually appealing and built to last, while also providing a neat, low-maintenance finish.

Our Recommendation

After carrying out a full site survey, we recommended installing a Tobermore block paved driveway. Tobermore is one of the leading names in paving, known for producing high-quality, durable blocks with a wide range of colour and style options. This choice would not only enhance the kerb appeal of the property but also provide a robust surface capable of withstanding regular vehicle use.

To ensure long-term performance, we advised a full excavation of the existing surface followed by the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore base, compacted in layers to create a stable foundation. This would be topped with a layer of sharp sand, perfectly levelled and compacted before the new Tobermore paving blocks were laid in the agreed pattern.

The Installation

The project began with the removal of the existing driveway surface and waste materials, leaving a clean area ready for preparation. A new Type 1 MOT sub-base was then supplied and machine-compacted to guarantee strength and stability.

Once the base was in place, a sharp sand bedding layer was spread evenly and levelled to precise measurements. Our team then laid the Tobermore block paving, ensuring each block was carefully aligned to achieve a uniform, attractive finish.

After all the blocks were laid, kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints and the entire surface was compacted, locking the blocks firmly into place. The final stage involved tidying the site and ensuring every detail met our high standards of workmanship.

The Result

In just one day, the front of Mr and Mrs Jenkins’ home in Croydon was completely transformed. The new Tobermore block paved driveway has given their property a fresh, elegant appearance with a strong and durable surface that will stand the test of time.
