The Project

Mr Anderson approached us looking to improve the entrance to his property in Thornton Heath. His old driveway had become worn and untidy, making access difficult and taking away from the overall appearance of his home. He wanted a driveway that looked smart and welcoming, while also being tough enough to handle daily use. In addition, he asked for a new brick wall to frame the space, adding both security and a touch of style.

Our Recommendation

After a full site survey, we recommended a limestone driveway. Limestone is well-known for its natural colour variations and elegant appearance, while also being strong, hard-wearing, and easy to look after. Its smooth finish would bring a bright, clean look to the property and instantly lift the kerb appeal.

To complement the driveway, we suggested building a new brick wall along the front boundary. This would not only define the space and add privacy but also create a neat, structured finish. We recommended using high-quality facing bricks to match the style of the house and ensure the wall blended seamlessly with the property’s overall design.

As with every project, we advised a full excavation of the old surface, the installation of a strong MOT Type 1 sub-base, and careful setting of levels to guarantee proper drainage and long-term stability.

The Installation

Work began with a complete excavation of the existing driveway surface, removing all waste materials and preparing the ground for the new limestone. A solid MOT Type 1 hardcore base was then supplied, laid, and compacted in layers to form a stable foundation.

Once the groundwork was complete, we created a sharp sand bed, levelled and compacted to perfection. The limestone paving was then laid with precision, each stone placed to form a uniform, attractive finish. The natural tones of the limestone gave the driveway a bright and elegant appearance.

Alongside the driveway installation, we built the new brick wall. Our team carefully constructed it with clean, straight lines, ensuring a solid structure that would provide both durability and style. The wall not only framed the driveway beautifully but also gave the property added character and definition.

Finally, all joints were finished securely, and the area was tidied with all waste removed, leaving the property spotless and ready to use.

The Result

The transformation of Mr Anderson’s home in Thornton Heath was completed in just five days.
