The Project

Mr Walton contacted us looking to upgrade his existing driveway in Crowborough. The original surface had become worn and lacked both character and structure. He was looking for something visually striking, long-lasting, and capable of handling daily vehicle use.

A key requirement was to enhance the front of the property with a design that combined both practical function and strong kerb appeal.

Our Recommendation

Following a detailed consultation and site inspection, we recommended the use of Tegula paving blocks in three complementary sizes. Tegula is known for its classic, time-worn look and excellent durability—making it ideal for domestic driveways.

To elevate the design further, we proposed finishing the driveway with a granite sett apron to the front, giving a refined, premium appearance and creating a distinguished entrance to the property.

The Installation

This project was completed over three working days. We began by excavating the existing surface and preparing the ground. A compacted sub-base was laid to provide essential structural support, followed by a sharp sand bedding layer to ensure accurate levelling.

The Tegula paving blocks, in three carefully selected sizes, were laid in a pattern that added texture and interest to the surface. We then installed the granite apron at the front edge, giving the driveway a crisp and stylish finish that framed the design beautifully.

Once all blocks were laid, we completed the installation by jointing the surface and compacting the entire area to achieve a solid and smooth finish.

The Result

The finished driveway has given the property a stunning new exterior, combining classic paving charm with modern precision. The multi-size Tegula blocks bring visual depth and character, while the granite apron adds a touch of elegance and definition.
