Service Provided: New Tegula Block-Paved Driveway with Limestone Edging and Brickwork
The Project
??? from Bromley approached us looking to replace their old, tired driveway with something that would enhance the appearance of their home while remaining robust and low-maintenance. The existing surface had started to crack and discolour, and the lack of edging meant soil and debris often spilled over onto the drive. They also wanted to incorporate new front boundary walls to frame the entrance neatly.
Our Recommendation
Following a site visit and consultation with the clients, we recommended a full replacement using Tegula block paving in three complementary sizes, ideal for creating a timeless, premium look with excellent load-bearing properties. To provide a clean finish and enhance durability, we proposed a limestone edge detail around the perimeter.
To frame the driveway and entrance attractively, we also designed and built new brick walls, finished with stone pillar caps for a traditional and elegant touch. We estimated the entire project would take four days to complete to ensure attention to detail at every stage.
The Installation
We began by excavating and removing the old surface, clearing the area right down to a stable sub-base. After carefully preparing the ground, we laid a deep layer of MOT Type 1 crushed stone, compacted thoroughly to provide a solid foundation.
The driveway was then edged with natural limestone setts, offering a stylish contrast to the main paving and helping to retain the clean lines of the layout.
Next, we laid the Tegula blocks in a traditional three-size pattern, creating a visually interesting and authentic cobbled effect. The subtle variation in tones added texture and charm to the surface.
Simultaneously, our team constructed matching brick boundary walls along the front of the property. These were finished with smooth-cut stone caps on the pillars for a refined finish that complements the new driveway.
Once all blocks were laid, kiln-dried sand was swept into the joints, and the entire surface was compacted for stability and a flawless appearance.
The Result
In just four days, ??? received a complete driveway transformation. The new Tegula paving with limestone edging not only looks outstanding but also offers a highly durable surface for day-to-day use.
The addition of brick walls with stone-capped pillars gives the property a distinguished, framed entrance that enhances kerb appeal and property value. The clients were delighted with the results and praised our team for the high level of workmanship, organisation, and attention to detail throughout the project.
