The Project

Mr and Mrs Talbot contacted us to improve the front of their property in Croydon. Their existing driveway and pathway had become worn and dated over the years, detracting from the overall appearance of the home. They wanted a modern, low-maintenance solution that would not only enhance kerb appeal but also provide safe and practical access to the property.

Our Recommendation

Following a detailed site survey, we recommended installing a resin bound driveway along with a new slabbed pathway. Resin bound surfacing is an excellent choice for homeowners looking for a durable, attractive, and permeable driveway solution. Its seamless finish provides a contemporary appearance while allowing rainwater to drain naturally through the surface.

To complement the driveway, we suggested a slabbed path leading to the entrance of the property. This would create a defined walkway, improve accessibility, and provide a cohesive finish that tied the entire frontage together.

As with all our driveway installations, we advised a full excavation and the installation of a Type 1 MOT hardcore sub-base, compacted to ensure a strong and long-lasting foundation.

The Installation

Work began with the removal of the existing driveway and pathway surfaces. Once the area had been cleared, we installed and machine-compacted a Type 1 MOT hardcore base to provide a stable platform for the new driveway.

An open-texture base layer was then laid to support the resin bound surface and ensure excellent drainage. The UV-stable resin bound aggregate was carefully mixed and hand-trowelled to create a smooth, seamless finish across the driveway.

Alongside the driveway installation, we laid the new slabbed path, ensuring each slab was level, evenly spaced, and aligned perfectly with the property’s entrance. The path provided a practical and attractive route from the driveway to the front door.

Once all work had been completed, the site was thoroughly cleaned and left neat and ready for use.

The Result

In just three days, Mr and Mrs Talbot’s property in Croydon was transformed with a stunning new resin bound driveway and slabbed pathway. The resin surface provides a modern, low-maintenance finish with excellent durability and drainage, while the new path creates a smart and welcoming approach to the home.
